After the Interview

Contact your Searchforce consultant with feedback on the interview. Your consultant will then contact the interviewer to obtain feedback for you. Make a note of anything you felt unsure of so that you can prepare for this if you are granted a second interview.

Resignation

It is important to prepare yourself well for the resignation and to be clear about your goals and reasons for leaving. It is not advisable to resign in order to achieve a raise or a promotion, as you may find yourself out of a job.

As a courtesy you should notify your direct manager verbally and in writing of your intention to leave, giving the appropriate notice period, which should be contained in your employment contract. You should thank your employer and leave on a positive note.

Counter Offer

When you resign your employer may make you a counter offer in order to retain your services. Research shows that employees who accept counter offers rarely stay for any length of time, as the original reason for their resignation eventually resurfaces.

Redundancies

Redundancies are quite common in today’s employment market, with corporate downsizing, mergers and restructures. Many people will experience redundancies in their career and there is no need to feel ashamed about this. Be sure to include this on your CV along with your reason for leaving.
